Adult Basic Education
Adult Basic Education is a program of instruction designed to address the educational needs of adults seeking improvement in reading and mathematics, oral and written communication, and critical thinking skills. Adult learners enroll in Adult Basic Education to improve skills for the workplace, achieve personal goals, and/or prepare for enrollment in one of the college's high school equivalent programs.

- Classes are FREE
- Classes are offered in Chatham, Harnett, and Lee counties
- Class opportunities are available morning, afternoons, and evenings
- A parent/guardian of a minor, 16 or 17 years of age, must schedule an appointment with the College and Career Readiness office for which the student will attend class

- Online classes for eligible learners are available and offered in Chatham, Harnett, and Lee counties
For Adults with Intellectual Disabilities
Our Adult Basic Education program also serves adults with intellectual disabilities. Eligible students learn to become more independent and self-directing through instruction that teaches basic literacy, life and daily living skills, and some degree of employment readiness training so they can function in today's society.
Requirements:
- A formal diagnosis of the intellectual disability by a qualified professional physician, psychologist, or psychiatrist
- Students must be able to be tested and be able to show progress to remain in the program
